"In some mysterious way woods have never seemed to me to be static things. In physical terms, I move through them; yet in metaphysical ones, they seem to move through me."
~John Fowles
I found this quote quite interesting, and those of us who love to wander through the forest know all too well how true this sentiment is. We might often embark on a hike into the woods feeling run-down, overwhelmed, and with countless anxious thoughts buzzing through our minds. Before too long though, the quiet, unhurried atmosphere of the forest flows through us like the warm golden sunshine flooding through the branches high overhead. We leave feeling invigorated by the cool, pine-and-dirt tinged air filling our lungs, calmed by the peace and quiet that soothes our nerves, and inspired by the space created in our minds as our worries gradually empty with each step.

I was lucky enough to spend some refreshing time in the peaceful woods at Rockport State Park this weekend - check out the blog post here.
