The Badlands. Maybe it's because the place has "bad" in the name, but for some reason I've never had a desire to visit this unique landscape located on the Northern Great Plains of South Dakota. Until, that is, I viewed the latest film from More Than Just Parks featuring Badlands National Park.
My eyes were opened not to an alien and barren landscape as I've previously assumed it to be, but rather a place with wide open skies, rolling prairies, striking rock formations and deeply gouged canyons that seem to branch off into an endless fractal-like repetition across the scenery. This is a place where, barren of forests and thick vegetation, the very bones of the earth lie exposed, telling a story of ancient history that we just can't hear anywhere else.
Take a look, and I'm sure you'll want to add Badlands National Park to your "must-visit" list as well:
Once again, marvelous work from More Than Just Parks.
