Welcome to Nature Nerd Wednesdays, your mid-week nature break to reconnect with the calming, refreshing, and inspiring effects of nature. Take a deep breath and enjoy...

Welcome to the first Nature Nerd Wednesday of 2017! I hope everyone had a happy New Year, and that you're staying warm in the freezing weather that has taken hold of our region.

The New Year is always celebrated with fireworks that explode with noise, color, and light. However, after watching Jim Brandenburg's Nature 365 film for January 1st, there's no doubt this film showcases fireworks I'd much rather celebrate with! Twinkling stars and undulating aurora are natural phenomena whose silent magnificence offer us space to think and reflect and allow our hopes for the New Year to be conveyed heavenward on those ribbons of light.

Thank you for joining me here on A Day Without Rain! I'm looking forward to bringing you 51 more Nature Nerd Wednesdays here in 2017.
