In light of --ahem-- upcoming events later this week, I have a feeling most of us could use a hopeful reminder that there still exists in this world peace and beauty in places indifferent to the drama and politics of human society. How we love to escape to such places in times like these, and Pacific, the timelapse film below created by Matt Johnson, will certainly bless you with a brief feeling of escape.
The wonderful feature of this film is that, unlike many others, it showcases the beauty of both Eastern and Western Washington. From damp coastlines to thick forest to arid, windmill-topped hills, the concept here is a powerful reminder that although we often divide ourselves geographically and politically, the stunning expanse of land with its variety of ecosystems is a shared treasure for us all, and one which we'll need to fiercely protect in the coming years.
